I'm not understanding why you find that harsh. The movements put forward through the Gamergate community is spearheaded and endorsed by men as the majority. Of course there are women in there, too. But it's beyond disproportionate.
If you feel that I'm saying "all men do this/think this way" then you've misread my article. Gamergate is not representative of men. But Gamergate is represented by men.
When talking about the Stellar Blade/Mary Jane/Alloy situations, this wasn't a random take found on the internet. It was a huge discussion that involved mainstream gaming personalities and over 94,000 petitioners. And yes, again, most of those people were men. This could easily be seen when the video testimonials were still visible on the site.
You're entitled to not feel shocked that grown human beings get riled up over video game characters not being sexy enough. But whether or not it's "shocking" to someone was not even remotely the point.
